Breast Lift Lift and tighten your breasts
Introduction to mastopexy
Many women feel dissatisfaction with their breast shape and position, yet are not quite sure they want to undergo breast augmentation surgery. They may be the perfect candidates for an option called a breast lift, or mastopexy, a procedure that can combat the disheartening sagging and loss of elasticity known as breast ptosis. Drooping breasts may occur due to a variety of causes, including aging, breastfeeding, weight loss or weight gain. While a breast lift does not generally add volume to the breasts, it does tighten, tone and recontour the chest for a perkier and more attractive aesthetic. A breast lift is frequently a component of the mommy makeover procedure, and it can be paired with implant or reduction surgery as well.
A breast lift is a good option if you...
- are looking to restore a more youthful angle and shape to the breasts
- wish to correct the placement of downward-facing nipples
- suffer from breast asymmetry
- want clothes and swimwear to fit better
- desire more joy when you look in the mirror
- are at a healthy weight with no serious medical or psychological issues
- have reasonable expectations for improvement rather than perfection
- are a non-smoker

Treatment approach
Breast lifts are performed at Dr. Lahijani's accredited surgical center in Beverly Hills under general anesthesia. You can expect to be in the operating room for 1-3 hours. There are several standard approaches to the breast lift, outlined below, and Dr. Lahijani will choose the one that is best suited to your goals, anatomy and lifestyle.
- Benelli lift - Also nicknamed a 'donut' lift, this is the most common type of breast lift, as it leaves behind the least amount of scarring. The doctor will adjust the breast through a circular incision that is well-hidden by the shaded pigment of the areola. Note that a Benelli lift may be insufficient for those women with more severe sagging, such as can occur after dramatic weight loss.
- Crescent lift - This type of procedure is best suited for women with very minor breast ptosis, as it involves a tiny, inconspicuous incision made around the top half of the areola.
- Lollipop lift - A lollipop lift can combat moderately pronounced breast sagging, and provide the doctor with an opportunity to reshape the breast in a more dramatic way. The two incisions used appear at the border of the areola, and vertically from the areola to the inframammary crease.
- Anchor lift - This is the most comprehensive type of breast lift, designed to target severe breast ptosis. The T-shaped incision stretching from the areola, down the breast and across the crease allows the surgeon to excise fat, skin and tissue from the breast in the most efficient manner possible. The anchor lift is often the best approach when combining a breast lift with breast reduction.
Breast lift recovery
Healing will vary from patient to patient, but most of Dr. Lahijani's clients find that recovery is swift and without incident. Breast lift patients should avoid lifting, strain and stress on the chest area for the first several weeks. Drains placed to excise fluids from the treatment area will be removed within 7 days. Dr. Lahijani is an expert at preserving nipple sensitivity and function, so if you do feel any numbness or tenderness, these symptoms are only temporary. The doctor will furnish you will a full aftercare plan and any pain medications you require to ease your discomfort.
