Before the laser is applied, the tattooed area of the skin is numbed with a topical anesthesia and the patient's eyes are shielded with protective eyewear. In certain cases, the doctor may approve a local anesthetic. After the laser treatment is finished, a healing ointment is applied to the skin and the region is dressed with a bandage. Redness, minor bleeding and blistering are normal, and should abate within hours. Pain medications, antibiotic creams and Neosporin will be made available to you should you need them.
